County Freeholders Stop Fighting OPRA Lawsuits; Affecting Raises

February 15, 2012

The Union County Freeholders have decided to stop fighting lawsuits brought against them by UCWA founder Tina Renna.

“This is really costing us money now every time we lose. We did the math and figured out it’d be cheaper to let her get the info she wants rather than fight her since that money would affect the raises we get & county workers get,” said a Freeholder representative.

Rumors have be thrown that the county will drown UCWA requests with mountains of paperwork and have the OPRA requester spend hundreds of hours combing through the information to get one kernel of relevant material.

The move has its backers in county government. A county employee stated, “By the time she gets to it, we’ll have passed a resolution changing policies to cover ourselves. She’ll never catch up to us.”
