A local man was arrested by RP PD when it was discovered he somehow got his hands on several trees that were cut down during the roadwork done on Grant Avenue this year and was selling them as Christmas Stumps. The trees had been shaved down to a smaller size, according to police, and sold as replicas of the Christmas Stump on the corner of Grant &  Chestnut.

The fraud was discovered when a customer brought the tree home and saw that her carved messages were on the tree.

The resident told our reporter, “Something told that this was the tree for me. It was like calling to me. I thought it was cute that it looked like a smaller version of our beloved Christmas Stump but you can imagine my shock when I saw my own handwritten ‘RP 4ever’ message I carved into that same tree years ago!”

The trees were removed from the Gazebo Park parking lot, where they were being sold and sent to be destroyed. Neglia Engineering will be awarded the contract to dispose of them.
